We’re partnering with a community-focused housing organisation in South Wales to recruit a Rent Officer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and well-established income team, playing a key role in maintaining rent collection performance and delivering a consistent, high-quality service to residents.
This is a short-term interim role offering immediate impact. You’ll support the day-to-day management of rent accounts, ensuring income processes run smoothly and arrears are effectively monitored.
The organisation is open to candidates from Rent Assistant through to Rent Officer level, making this a great opportunity whether you’re building on existing experience or stepping into a more autonomous role.
Key responsibilities of a Rent Officer:- Monitor rent accounts and support effective income collection
- Manage arrears-related administration and follow established processes
- Prepare and issue standard letters and notices in line with procedures
- Maintain accurate records and update housing management systems
- Respond to resident enquiries via phone and email during core hours
- Work closely with your manager to ensure key priorities are delivered
- 35 hours per week with flexi-time
- Predominantly office-based in Merthyr Tydfil
- Up to 1 day per week working from home
- Experience in rent/income collection within housing or a similar environment
- Confident managing rent accounts and following arrears processes
- Strong administrative skills with high attention to detail
- Comfortable working in an office-based, customer-focused role
- Able to start quickly and contribute from day one
- Court experience is not essential, but beneficial for more senior candidates
- Initial 2-month contract, with potential for extension
- Supportive team environment with clear processes in place
