We are currently recruiting for an experienced Kitchen Fitter to join a well-established building and maintenance contractor delivering planned kitchen refurbishment programmes to occupied social housing properties across Northampton and Milton Keynes. This is a self-employed opportunity offering regular work with the chance to join a busy team delivering high-quality kitchen replacement programmes within the social housing sector.
The role involves working in occupied properties, carrying out full kitchen strip-outs, installations, and associated carpentry works. You'll work alongside electricians, plumbers, plasterers, decorators, and flooring contractors to ensure kitchens are completed to a high standard and handed over on time.
We welcome applications from Kitchen Fitters, Kitchen Installers, Carpenter Joiners, Joiners, Multi Skilled Carpenters, Multi Trade Operatives, Property Maintenance Operatives, and Carpenters with experience working within social housing, planned maintenance, or domestic property refurbishment.
- Carry out full kitchen strip-outs, including removing units, tiles, flooring, and associated fixtures
- Install floor protection and maintain excellent dust control throughout works in occupied homes
- Receive and check kitchen deliveries to ensure all materials are present before installation
- Complete full kitchen installations, including units, worktops, plinths, splashbacks, and finishing items
- Replace skirting boards and fit new window boards where required
- Bond and fill walls
- Basic plumbing
- Prepare subfloors using latex on solid floors or 6mm ply on timber floors ready for flooring contractors
- Carry out general carpentry works, including doors, skirting, and day-to-day repairs across multiple sites when required
- Work closely with other trades to ensure programmes remain on schedule
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, housekeeping, and health and safety at all times
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Kitchen Fitter or Kitchen Installer
- Proven experience completing kitchen refurbishments and installations
- Competent carrying out kitchen rip-outs and installations within occupied properties
- Experience preparing subfloors for flooring contractors
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete work to a high standard
- Flexible to undertake general carpentry works across different sites when required
- Based within, or able to travel across, Northampton and Milton Keynes
- To have your own vehicle (van ideally)
