We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Essex for an experienced Private Sector Housing Manager to join their Environmental Health and Regulatory Services team on an interim basis for an initial 6-month assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing professional to lead and shape private sector housing enforcement and regulatory services within a progressive council environment. The role is offered on a part-time basis (2 days per week), with flexible and hybrid working arrangements available by agreement.
Key Responsibilities of a Private Sector Housing Manager:
- Private Sector Housing enforcement activity
- Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) inspections and interventions
- Ensuring statutory compliance across housing enforcement functions
- Leading service improvement and operational performance
- Supporting strategic priorities relating to housing standards and tenant protection
You will provide clear operational leadership across the service, ensuring a balanced and proactive approach to enforcement while maintaining a strong focus on improving housing standards and resident outcomes.
Requirements:
- Strong experience within Private Sector Housing and Environmental Health
- Detailed knowledge of housing legislation, including HMO licensing and HHSRS
- Previous management or leadership experience within a local authority setting
- Experience overseeing enforcement and regulatory services
- The ability to quickly adapt and deliver within an interim assignment
