We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Essex for an experienced Housing Officer to join their Housing Management team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a housing professional with strong tenancy management experience to work within a busy and supportive local authority environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a patch of residential properties across the borough
- Delivering effective general tenancy management services
- Handling tenancy breaches including ASB, nuisance, and low-level enforcement
- Conducting tenancy audits, property visits, and estate inspections
- Supporting tenants to sustain tenancies and access relevant services
- Managing rent arrears cases and liaising with internal departments
- Responding to resident enquiries and resolving housing-related issues
- Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring compliance with housing policies
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Housing Officer within a Local Authority or Social Housing setting
- Strong knowledge of tenancy management and housing legislation
- Experience managing ASB and tenancy-related casework
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential
