We are recruiting for an Interim Void Surveyor for a leading Social Housing provider based in Wiltshire, supporting property services across the local region on a 4-6 week contract. As an Interim Void Surveyor, you will be responsible for delivering a range of surveying services across housing stock, ensuring properties are maintained to a high standard, compliant with regulations, and fit for purpose. This is a great opportunity to join a busy, customer-focused organisation and make an immediate impact.

What's on offer:

  • Rate: £35 per hour
  • Contract: 4-6 weeks
  • Working pattern: 35 hours (flexibility for part time 3 days a week)

About the Company:

Our client is a well-established Social Housing group managing a large portfolio of residential properties across Wiltshire and the surrounding areas. They are committed to providing safe, high-quality homes and delivering excellent services to their tenants and communities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Take ownership of a caseload of void properties and progress them through to completion within tight timescales.
  • Survey void homes and identify required works (from minor repairs/compliance items through to kitchens/bathrooms/component replacements).
  • Prioritise voids into quick wins vs larger programmes of work to maximise speed back to letting.
  • Scope works where not already defined and ensure appropriate instructions are issued to contractors.
  • Review and challenge contractor quotations using knowledge of schedule of rates/standard minute values.
  • Monitor contractor performance against programme; drive timely delivery and resolve delays/issues.
  • Carry out quality checks/inspections during and at completion of works.
  • Ensure statutory compliance-related works are completed as required before handover.
  • Handover completed properties back to the housing team ready for letting.

The successful Interim Void Surveyor will have:

  • Proven experience as a Void Surveyor / Voids-focused building surveyor in social or affordable housing environments.
  • Strong ability to manage external contractors end-to-end (instruction, monitoring, quality control, completion/handover).
  • Working knowledge of schedule of rates (SOR) principles and standard minute values; able to validate pricing/timeframes.
  • Able to work effectively in a small organisation with limited internal maintenance resource and evolving standards/specifications.
  • Highly organised with strong prioritisation skills across multiple properties at different stages.
  • Quality-focused with an eye for detail while maintaining pace to reduce rent loss.
  • Able to travel across Wiltshire (county-wide patch).

This role would suit an experienced Void Surveyor available at short notice, looking for an interim opportunity within a reputable Social Housing organisation.
