We are recruiting for an Interim Building Surveyor for a leading Social Housing provider based in Somerset, supporting property services across the local region on a 3-month contract. As an Interim Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for delivering a range of surveying services across housing stock, ensuring properties are maintained to a high standard, compliant with regulations, and fit for purpose.   • Rate: £30-£35 per hour
  • Contract: 3-month interim assignment (potential for extension)

About the Company

Our client is a well-established Social Housing group managing a large portfolio of residential properties across Somerset and the surrounding areas. They are committed to providing safe, high-quality homes and delivering excellent services to their tenants and communities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting property inspections, including damp and mould surveys, repairs visits and property inspections
  • Frontline operational role supporting contract delivery and contractor performance
  • Ensuring all works are completed in line with compliance and health & safety standards
  • Managing projects within occupied properties, ensuring minimal disruption to residents
  • Liaising with tenants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure effective communication
  • Monitoring budgets and ensuring cost-effective delivery of works
  • Producing detailed reports and maintaining accurate records using internal systems
  • Supporting the delivery of planned maintenance programmes

The successful Interim Building Surveyor will have:

  • Proven experience in a similar Building Surveyor role, ideally within Social Housing
  • Strong knowledge of Awaab's law and damp and mould
  • Experience managing contractors and overseeing works on site
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a busy workload
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
