We’re recruiting for a Technical Officer to join a specialist procurement consultancy supporting public-sector and housing organisations across the UK. This is a back-office technical role in Birmingham supporting procurement projects across housing, property and construction. You’ll be responsible for reviewing and developing technical specifications, pricing information and tender documentation, helping ensure projects are technically sound and ready to go to market. Key responsibilities of a Technical Officer: Writing, reviewing and adapting technical specifications for housing and construction contracts. Supporting procurement teams with technical documentation, tender exercises and contract requirements. Reviewing pricing schedules, cost models and tender submissions for accuracy. Researching technical standards, legislation, products and market information. Reviewing property, stock condition and survey information to support procurement. Maintaining specification libraries, technical standards and benchmark pricing. Supporting tender evaluation and working with procurement, commercial and technical colleagues.What We’re Looking For: Previous experience writing and/or reviewing technical specifications. You could come from a technical, procurement, asset management, commercial or cost/finance background, but you’ll need a good understanding of housing, property or construction and how specifications translate into procurement and pricing. Ideally, you’ll have experience within social housing, local government, a housing association, contractor or public-sector environment. Experience of planned maintenance, responsive repairs, asset management or construction procurement would be highly relevant. A relevant qualification such as RICS, CIOB, CIAT or similar would be advantageous but isn’t essential.You’ll be: Detail-focused and analytical Comfortable working with technical specifications and pricing Strong with data and documentation Commercially aware Confident using Excel and Microsoft Office Organised and able to manage multiple priorities A strong communicator and team playerThis is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on specification experience who wants to move into a specialist procurement environment and work across a variety of housing and construction projects.
