We’re recruiting for a Commercial Contract Manager to join a specialist procurement consultancy supporting public-sector and housing organisations across the UK. This is a hands-on contracts role for someone with strong construction contract experience and a background working with public-sector or housing clients. You’ll be reviewing construction contracts, advising clients on contractual risk and helping them navigate changes to live agreements. If you know your JCT contracts, understand the commercial realities of construction and can turn complex contractual issues into clear, practical advice, this could be a great next move. What will you be doing? Your focus will be construction contracts, commercial advice and procurement. Key responsibilities of a Commercial Contract Manager: Review and advise on construction and commercial contracts for public-sector and housing clients. Support clients who are already operating under live contracts. Advise when clients need to make variations, amendments or changes to existing agreements. Identify contractual risks around liability, payment, insurance, warranties, termination and disputes. Explain contractual rights and obligations in clear, practical terms. Support negotiations and amendments where required. Review contracts received from clients, suppliers and other parties and identify anything that needs challenging or changing. Provide commercial and contractual input into procurement and tender exercises. Support contract awards, framework arrangements and contract documentation. Help develop standard clauses, templates and guidance to improve the service.What experience do you need? We’re specifically looking for someone with commercial contracts experience within the public sector, housing sector or a closely related environment. You’ll need strong practical experience of construction contracts, with a good understanding of how contracts operate in real projects and client environments. Experience should include: JCT contracts, particularly Design & Build, Intermediate and Minor Works. NEC or other recognised construction forms. Construction, repairs, maintenance, development or consultancy contracts. Contract amendments, variations and negotiations. Procurement and tender documentation. Contract risk, liability and commercial terms. Advising clients on contractual rights, obligations and risk.Your public-sector or housing experience is important because you’ll be advising organisations operating within these environments and dealing with the contractual, governance and procurement considerations that come with them. A CILEX/FCILEx/ACILEx or equivalent legal qualification is desirable, but strong practical construction contract experience is equally important. What will make you stand out?
