We are working with a large and well-established social housing provider who are looking to recruit a Part-Time Income Officer on a permanent basis. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in rent arrears recovery and tenancy sustainment who is looking for a flexible working pattern within a supportive housing environment.

The Role: You will play a key role in maximising rental income, supporting tenants to sustain their tenancies, and reducing arrears across a diverse housing portfolio. The role combines office-based hybrid working with regular patch visits to tenants' homes.

Key responsibilities of an Income Officer include:

  • Managing a caseload of rent accounts and reducing arrears through early intervention and proactive support
  • Carrying out home visits and patch-based work to engage with tenants and prevent escalation of debt
  • Negotiating repayment plans and providing budgeting and welfare advice
  • Taking appropriate legal action where necessary, including preparing cases for court
  • Working closely with Housing Officers, Support Services and external agencies
  • Ensuring accurate case recording and compliance with organisational policies and procedures
  • Supporting tenancy sustainment and identifying vulnerability at an early stage

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working in rent arrears, income recovery or housing management
  • Understands housing legislation and welfare benefits (including Universal Credit)
  • Is confident conducting home visits and managing difficult conversations
  • Can work independently and manage a varied caseload
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle (essential)
  • Has strong communication and negotiation skills
