Some roles are about building from scratch, where others are about taking something that already works and evolving it for what comes next. This sits firmly in the second category. We’re working with a PE-backed SaaS business operating in the information security and compliance space. Their platform is used by organisations to manage complex regulatory requirements, replacing fragmented, manual processes with something structured, auditable and scalable. They’ve built a solid product, a loyal customer base, and a business that’s already working commercially. Now the focus shifts to how that platform evolves as both regulation and technology move forward.
As AI becomes more widely adopted, the challenge for their customers is no longer just compliance in the traditional sense. It’s governance. How AI is used, how it’s controlled, and how organisations remain compliant as the landscape evolves. The opportunity here is to build on that, bringing more structure to engineering, improving how the product evolves, and shaping how the platform supports this next wave of demand.
Why this role is interesting:
- A product with real traction → established platform and customer base → giving you a base to build from, not something to create from zero
- Clear product evolution driven by AI governance → changing regulatory landscape creating new demand → giving you the opportunity to shape how the platform adapts
- Ownership of a growing engineering function (5–15) → close enough to influence delivery and direction → while building the structure needed for scale
- PE-backed with defined growth plans → investment aligned to expansion → positioning technology as central to that journey
You’ll:
- Take ownership of the engineering function.
- Bring more structure to how things are built and delivered.
- Work closely with product on how the platform evolves.
- Scale the team over time.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience leading engineering teams in SaaS software environments.
- Track record improving delivery and scaling teams.
- Strong technical grounding with the ability to stay close to the detail.
- Engineering background.
- Comfort operating in a scale-up environment.
- Either CTO level or Engineering Leadership ready for a step up.
- Exposure to heavily regulated industries beneficial but not essential.
Location: Remote-first, with periodic team get-togethers in London or Brighton.
Package: Competitive CTO base + bonus incentives (AOR). If this looks like a role for you, please apply now.
