We’re supporting a fast-growing SaaS business that’s scaling quickly, having just passed £1m ARR and aiming to double that over the next 12–18 months. Their platform underpins a busy field engineering operation, and with growth comes complexity. They now need a DevOps / Systems Engineer to take full ownership of the infrastructure, replacing a consultant who’s been guiding things part-time.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll set the standards, bring structure, and build the foundations the team needs for the next phase of growth. It’s a chance to join early on that journey, take ownership of systems end-to-end, and be trusted to shape how the platform scales.
The Role
- Own and run the AWS infrastructure that powers the entire platform.
- Act as the bridge between development teams and live operations, ensuring smooth and reliable delivery.
- Automate wherever possible. From deployments to monitoring to disaster recovery.
- Take a structured approach to systems architecture and set best practices for scalability and reliability.
- Over time, grow into a leadership role as the business scales, with the opportunity to build and manage a team underneath you.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, serverless).
- Building out event-driven architecture with Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, SNS.
- Owning CI/CD pipelines for .NET/C# applications.
- Monitoring performance and health with New Relic, CloudWatch, Firebase.
- Ensuring third-party integrations run reliably and securely.
- Automating processes with PowerShell.
- Overseeing failover, backup, and disaster recovery plans.
- Working closely with the security lead to meet modern cyber standards.
What we’re looking for
- Proven background as a DevOps Engineer or Systems Administrator in AWS.
- Strong Microsoft stack knowledge (Windows Server, IIS, .NET/C#, SQL Server).
- Hands-on with AWS core services (EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM).
- Experience with serverless (Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions).
- Built and maintained CI/CD pipelines.
- Confident with scripting (PowerShell).
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
Why join?
- You’ll be taking over from a consultant and given full ownership of the infrastructure.
- A growth journey: the business is targeting £3–4m ARR in the next few years with a clear plan for scaling.
- A culture of low churn, regular team socials, and company-wide strategy days that keep everyone aligned &
- Backing from a strong leadership team with clear exit ambitions and willingness to invest in the right people early.
Salary: £70k–£80k DOE
