We are looking for a Project manager to join our Research team, specialising in the development and delivery of government-funded R&D projects. In this role, you will help shape new project proposals, support active projects through delivery, and focus particularly on cost control, grant management, and compliance. You will work cross-functionally across internal teams, with external partners in industry and academia, and liaise with funding bodies to ensure the smooth and compliant running of projects. This is an initial 10 month contract paying £250 a day inside IR35. Hiring manager has informed this will be extended with work they have coming up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development of government funding bids and collaborative project proposals.
- Manage aspects of project delivery, especially related to cost/grant tracking and financial reporting.
- Coordinate work across multiple projects to meet key deadlines and compliance requirements.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, external partners, and funding organisations.
- Prepare high-quality project documentation aligned to prescribed standards and grant conditions.
- Control and manage confidential and financial information, ensuring GDPR compliance.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
- Highly organised, with experience managing multiple workstreams and tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with enterprise systems (e.g., SAP) preferred.
- Experience working cross-functionally and self-sufficiently, managing own workload.
- Previous experience in business planning, a project management office (PMO), or a similar environment.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience with government-funded R&D programmes (e.g., Innovate UK, EU Frameworks).
- Background working in regulated financial or audit environments.
