We’re working with a well-funded, early-stage startup reinventing how young people discover careers. They’ve built a mobile-first job platform driven by behavioural science and AI-led matching, designed specifically for Gen Z users. The product has traction. Their seed round is closed. Now the focus shifts from MVP to scale.
The platform was initially built using low-code tools. It works. It’s live. But to support growth, integrations and white‑label expansion, the architecture now needs to move toward a scalable AWS‑native setup. This is the first in‑house engineering hire. There is strategic technical guidance in place, but they need someone embedded internally to own execution, centralise knowledge, and improve technological resilience.
What this offers you:
- Founding internal engineer position in a funded startup with traction - they have years of runway.
- Ownership of the transition from low‑code to scalable AWS‑native architecture - experience that’s increasingly valuable in modern startup environments.
- Exposure across Node, Postgres, React and AWS - you'll have your hands in all aspects of development, continuing your pathway to a T‑shaped development professional.
- Clear pathway toward Technical Lead within 12–18 months, accelerating your career development.
You’ll suit this if you:
- Have 4–7 years’ experience in commercial development environments.
- Lean backend (Node, Postgres, AWS) but are comfortable fullstack (React / TypeScript).
- Have worked in API‑heavy systems.
- Are comfortable operating in evolving or transitional architectures.
- Want to move toward technical leadership over time.
Hybrid: 2 days per week in office (Central Manchester). If you're looking for a role that offers you the opportunity to be at the centre of a rapidly growing product, with the career opportunities that entails - please apply now.
