We’re seeking a Head of Engineering to lead and grow a dynamic, hybrid engineering capability within a high-impact team. This role combines the agility and innovation of a startup with the resources of a large business, making it a unique opportunity to shape strategy, drive delivery, and embed best‑in‑class engineering practices.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead, develop, and grow a hybrid engineering team including internal staff, contractors, and third‑party partners, managing capacity, performance, and career development.
  • Define and embed engineering governance, standards, and ways of working, including quality gates and security by design.
  • Drive predictable, transparent delivery of projects—on time, within budget, and aligned to business outcomes; act as the point of escalation for technical challenges.
  • Champion innovation and modern engineering practices (DevOps, CI/CD, cloud‑native) across the organisation.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Data, and Operations to align engineering initiatives with strategic business objectives.
  • Establish and refine agile processes, ways of working, and operational cadence, creating a high‑performing, adaptable engineering culture.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams in medium‑to‑large tech businesses, ideally with experience scaling teams and delivery.
  • Strong background in agile transformation, process definition, and operational excellence.
  • Hands‑on understanding of modern engineering practices including DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud‑native architectures.
  • Demonstrable experience in driving technology strategy and embedding governance, quality, and security practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills — able to inspire teams and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable in a fast‑paced, start‑up‑like environment while operating within a larger corporate structure.

What’s on offer:

  • Hybrid working – 1 day per week in the London office.
  • Opportunity to shape engineering strategy and delivery in a business making a bold tech push.
  • Lead a high‑impact, entrepreneurial team in a supportive, innovative environment.

This is a rare chance to lead engineering at pace and scale, blending strategy, delivery, and innovation. If you thrive in high‑performing teams and want to make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
