Nixon McQuade are working with an International Law firm based in Glasgow or Edinburgh to recruit a Defence Insurance Solicitor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded litigation team acting on behalf of insurers and corporate clients across a broad range of defence matters. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of defence litigation files, including personal injury, property damage, and liability claims. You will be responsible for handling cases from initial instruction through to resolution, including court proceedings where necessary. The role offers exposure to high-quality work within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
Role
- Manage a caseload of defence insurance litigation matters from inception to conclusion
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, witness statements, and settlement agreements
- Liaise with clients, insurers, counsel, and third parties
- Attend court hearings, case management conferences, and mediations
- Provide strategic legal advice and risk assessment to clients
- Negotiate settlements and represent client interests effectively
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal procedures
- Maintain accurate case records using case management systems
- Meet billing targets and contribute to the financial performance of the team
- Stay up to date with legal developments in insurance and personal injury law
Candidate Profile
- Newly Qualified to 2 years’ PQE (Post-Qualification Experience)
- Experience in defence insurance litigation (preferred, though strong litigation experience will be considered)
- Strong academic background and excellent drafting skills
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Commercial awareness and a client-focused approach
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented mindset
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
