Nixon McQuade are delighted to be working with an established and expanding law firm as they recruit for a Legal Secretary to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Secretary to support solicitors handling a busy caseload of medical negligence claims. The successful candidate will play an important role in progressing files from initial instruction through to settlement or hearing.

The Role

  • Supporting solicitors with the management and progression of medical negligence files
  • Drafting correspondence, legal documents and court papers
  • Liaising with clients, medical experts, healthcare providers and other third parties
  • Obtaining, reviewing and organising medical records and supporting evidence
  • Preparing briefs, chronologies and case summaries
  • Managing diaries, appointments, court dates and procedural deadlines
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case management records
  • Ensuring files are progressed in accordance with internal procedures
  • Providing a professional and compassionate standard of client care

The Person

  • Previous experience working as a Legal Secretary within a law firm
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise competing deadlines
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Competent using Microsoft Office and case management systems
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Previous litigation or medical negligence experience would be advantageous but is not essential
