A leading insurance litigation firm with a growing presence in Belfast is seeking a Legal Secretary to join its busy Northern Ireland team. The firm acts on behalf of major insurer and corporate clients across a wide range of litigation matters and is known for delivering high-quality legal services within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to litigated file handlers, assisting with the day-to-day management of insurance litigation cases. The team handles a wide range of matters including credit hire, motor, casualty, disease and property litigation, offering exposure to varied and high-volume work. This role is well suited to an organised and proactive Legal Secretary who thrives in a busy litigation environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audio and copy typing of legal correspondence and documents
  • Preparing court documents, bundles and legal briefs
  • Managing diaries, appointments and key case dates
  • Handling telephone calls, messages and email correspondence on behalf of fee earners
  • Liaising with clients, insurers, counsel and third parties
  • Maintaining and updating case management systems and client records
  • General administrative duties including scanning, filing and document management
  • Supporting the wider team as required to ensure efficient case progression

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working as a Legal Secretary, ideally within litigation
  • Strong audio and copy typing skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent organisation and time management abilities
  • Confident communication skills and professional telephone manner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a busy team environment
