Nixon McQuade are working with a well regarded law firm specialising in insurance defence litigation, who is seeking a junior solicitor - NQ to 2 years PQE to join its expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified solicitor or someone early in their legal career to develop expertise in Employer’s Liability and Public Liability litigation within the County Court.
The successful candidate will join a growing and collaborative team that works closely with insurers and policyholders, delivering practical and effective legal solutions. The Role:
- Managing a caseload of Employer’s Liability and Public Liability claims on behalf of insurer clients.
- Progressing files in accordance with client instructions and internal procedures.
- Developing strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, insurers, witnesses and other relevant parties.
- Interviewing witnesses and preparing witness statements.
- Drafting pleadings, applications and other litigation documents.
- Liaising with insurers, insured parties, experts and other stakeholders involved in claims.
- Instructing counsel and attending consultations, conferences and mediations, both remotely and in person.
- Attending court hearings, settlement discussions and trials where required.
- Meeting agreed performance targets while maintaining high standards of client service.
- Keeping case management systems updated with accurate and timely information.
- Ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory obligations.
The Person:
- Qualified Solicitor with 0–2 years’ PQE.
- Experience in defence insurance litigation would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including telephone advocacy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong focus on client care.
- Good understanding of litigation procedures and court rules.
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
- Proactive and adaptable approach with strong organisational skills.
- Strong analytical and research capabilities.
- Competent IT skills and familiarity with case management systems.
