Legal Accounts Assistant Belfast Salary : Competitive DOE A well-established Belfast law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Accounts Assistant to join its finance department.
This is a varied position covering banking, transactional finance, billing and general accounts administration.
It would suit someone who is comfortable working with financial information, managing several priorities and maintaining a consistently high level of accuracy.
The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for: Monitoring client and office bank accounts and recognising incoming payments.
Posting and allocating receipts correctly within the finance system.
Processing payments from both client and office accounts.
Supporting the billing process, including the preparation and distribution of invoices.
Entering purchase ledger and supplier invoices accurately.
Reviewing and processing staff expense submissions.
Responding to finance-related queries from internal teams and external suppliers.
Producing standard accounts documentation, reports and correspondence.
Identifying and resolving financial discrepancies, referring complex matters where appropriate.
Providing additional support to the finance team during month-end, year-end and other busy periods.
Maintaining accurate, complete and up-to-date financial records.
Developing positive and professional relationships with colleagues throughout the firm.
The Person Applicants should possess: Previous experience within an accounts, finance, bookkeeping or cashiering role.
Strong numerical ability and a high degree of accuracy.
Experience using finance software and online business banking systems.
Competent Microsoft Office skills, with particular confidence using Excel.
The ability to prioritise competing tasks and meet demanding deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The confidence to communicate effectively with colleagues, suppliers and other stakeholders.
A professional, trustworthy and confidential approach when handling sensitive financial information.
Experience gained within a law firm or another professional-services business would be particularly beneficial.
An Accounting Technician qualification, or progress towards a relevant accountancy qualification, would be welcomed.
Previous exposure to legal accounting software, VAT processes or the Solicitors Accounts Regulations would also be advantageous.
