NC Associates are working exclusively with a long-established distribution organisation based in Wrexham to help recruit a Group Management Accountant. As a Group Management Accountant, you will work closely with senior members of the finance team. This broad role will provide support in the production of management and statutory accounts for several entities within the group, assisting in driving improvements in processes, controls, and reporting to enable business growth. This role will also involve financial reporting and providing finance business partnering on various projects within the group.

Management Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Prepare management accounts from ‘end to end’, including posting accruals and prepayments, tax, fixed assets, leases, and payroll.
  • Produce accurate monthly balance sheet and inter-company loan reconciliations and P&L account analysis workings to support the management accounts.
  • Conduct variance analysis of the P&L and margin analysis of sales.
  • Work closely with senior team members in the production of quarterly group consolidated management accounts and year-end statutory financial statement preparation.
  • Prepare and file VAT returns.
  • Perform payroll runs, calculating pay for staff and issuing payslips, while answering payroll queries including CIS.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet control accounts; PAYE, VAT, wages, stock, etc.
  • Review aged accounts payable and receivable.
  • Conduct credit card reconciliations and accruals.
  • Other tasks will develop as new companies and acquisitions continue to evolve.
  • Liaise with auditors and assist senior finance team members in managing audit queries and responses.
  • Support the wider business through ongoing systems process improvements.

Management Accountant Experience Required:

  • A commercially astute part-qualified or newly qualified accountant with a strong eye for detail.
  • 1-2 years of industry experience, preferably in group business but not essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of producing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communicator, able to articulate financial information in an easy-to-understand format.
  • An eye for process improvements and the confidence to make suggestions.
