NC Associates are working with a well-established insurance brokerage based in Cholmondeley who are looking to recruit a Finance Officer to take ownership of their finance function. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, with strategic support from an External Finance Director, you will be the sole finance professional within the business, taking full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the accounts function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transactional finance professional who enjoys working autonomously and wants to make a genuine impact within a growing business.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring strong cash flow, managing client money processes, and building positive relationships with customers while confidently managing overdue debt. Payroll is currently outsourced; however, there are plans to bring this function in-house in the future, providing an excellent opportunity to broaden your responsibilities and develop your payroll knowledge over time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking full ownership of the day-to-day finance function.
  • Managing the sales ledger and purchase ledger processes.
  • Proactively chasing overdue debt by telephone, email, and written correspondence.
  • Allocating incoming cash and reconciling customer accounts.
  • Completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparing and completing client money calculations in line with FCA regulations and company procedures.
  • Processing supplier invoices and preparing payment runs.
  • Investigating and resolving customer and supplier account queries.
  • Supporting month-end processes and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Producing financial information for the Managing Director and External Finance Director as required.
  • Supporting the transition of payroll from an outsourced provider to an in-house process and taking ownership of payroll administration as the role develops.

Experience Required:

  • Previous experience within a standalone finance or accounts role.
  • Strong experience across transactional finance, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, reconciliations, cash allocation, and payment processing.
  • Confident and professional credit control experience, with the ability to chase overdue debt via telephone, email, and written correspondence.
  • Experience handling client money or working within a regulated environment would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to payroll would be beneficial, although full training will be provided as payroll is brought in-house.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and work independently.

Personal Attributes:

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of the finance function.
  • Confident communicator with excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Organised with excellent time management skills.
  • Professional, reliable, and trustworthy.
  • Positive, proactive, and comfortable working closely with senior management.

If you are looking for a role where you can take ownership of the finance function, work closely with senior leadership, and broaden your responsibilities as the business continues to grow, this could be an excellent next step in your career.
