Finance Business Partner Role
NC Associates are working exclusively with an established and very commercial SME organisation based in Warrington who are looking to recruit a dynamic Finance Business Partner to help the business grow over the next few years. As a Finance Business Partner / Commercial Accountant you will take ownership of the finance function and act as a trusted commercial partner to the senior leadership team. This is not a back-office or purely technical role. You will own financial control, cash discipline, forecasting, and insight, while helping shape how finance supports scale. As the business grows, you will build and lead a finance function beneath you, embedding strong processes, controls, and commercial rigour. Credit control and cashflow management are critical to success.
Finance Business Partner Responsibilities
- Financial Ownership & Control
- Prepare full monthly management accounts with clear, commercial commentary for the board
- Own the P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow
- Balance sheet reconciliations and financial integrity
- Fixed asset management
- VAT returns and statutory reporting
- Lead and manage the year-end audit process
- Maintain high standards of financial accuracy, control, and governance
- Forecasting, Cash & Risk
- Weekly rolling 13-week cashflow forecast
- Monthly rolling 12-month forecast (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflow)
- Short- and medium-term cash planning
- FX planning and exposure management
- Identify financial risks and opportunities early and clearly
- Credit Control & Working Capital
- Full ownership and oversight of credit control and accounts receivable
- Drive debtor discipline and timely cash collection
- Oversight of accounts payable and supplier management
- Embed a cash-focused culture across the business
- Work closely with sales and operations to prevent revenue and margin leakage
- Commercial Insight & Decision Support
- Gross profit and margin analysis
- Daily sales reporting and monthly regional analysis
- Cost budget vs actual variance analysis
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities
- Trend analysis to support decision-making
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to improve commercial outcomes
Finance Business Partner Experience Required
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (will consider part qualified)
- Commercially minded accountant with strong business awareness
- Confident, assertive, and comfortable influencing senior stakeholders
- Proactive, self-motivated, and highly organised
- Strong experience in cashflow management and credit control
- Motivated by impact, ownership, and progression
