Accounts Assistant Overview:
NC Associates are working with a growing accountancy practice in Birkenhead who are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an AAT Level 3 qualified individual looking to further develop their accountancy career within practice. The role offers exposure across accounts preparation, VAT, management accounts, and basic tax compliance, whilst providing structured support to continue professional development through AAT Level 4. Working closely with senior members of the team, the successful candidate will gain valuable experience across a diverse client portfolio while building strong technical and client‑facing skills.
Accounts Assistant Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the preparation of year‑end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- Supporting the preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Assisting with management accounts and periodic financial reporting
- Supporting corporation tax computations and submissions under supervision
- Assisting with personal tax returns and basic tax compliance work
- Maintaining accurate client records and working papers
- Liaising with clients to obtain information and respond to routine queries
- Supporting senior team members to ensure client deadlines are met
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the practice
Accounts Assistant Experience Required:
- AAT Level 3 qualified or equivalent
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice would be advantageous
- Basic understanding of accounts preparation and VAT compliance
- Exposure to cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
