NC Associates are working in partnership with a well-established and growing professional services firm based in Preston to recruit an Accounts Assistant. Due to continued growth, this is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative finance team supporting both internal financial operations and wider client-related processes. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of financial administration, working closely with fee earners and colleagues across the business. Accuracy, communication, and a proactive approach are essential for success in this role.
Accounts Assistant Responsibilities
- Monitoring incoming monies and updating internal finance spreadsheets
- Notifying relevant stakeholders to ensure timely allocation of funds to client matters
- Processing and reconciling petty cash transactions
- Posting client and office accounting transactions from the finance queue
- Acting as a secondary authoriser for bank payments
- Preparing manual cheque payments where required
- Managing batch imports for client disbursements and financial postings
- Monitoring the accounts inbox and resolving internal and external queries
- Supporting general day-to-day finance administration and reconciliation tasks
Accounts Assistant Experience Required
To be successful in your application, you should have the following experience:
- Essential: Previous experience in a finance, accounts, or bookkeeping support role
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively
- Desirable: Experience working within a professional services or legal environment
- Experience using integrated finance or accounting systems
