My client helps independent garages repair complex vehicles fast with diagnostics, programming and live repair guidance from OE brand-specific master technicians. They are committed to helping mechanical and collision shops complete repairs with intelligent vehicle support today, for a safer world tomorrow.

The client was formed to address the evolving needs of independent repair shops, giving them the confidence to get the most complex vehicles back on the road safely and fast without having to send work out to the dealer. They have 4 offices in the US (Ann Arbor, California, Phoenix and North Carolina), 1 office in the UK (Oxford) and 1 in Australia (Melbourne). The company has over 420 staff globally, with 68 employees in the ROW operations covering the UK and Australia, a high proportion of whom are Automotive Master Technicians supporting the global customer base.

The main purpose of this role is to generate and respond to sales leads, sell and install equipment (where necessary). The individual will also be expected to maintain a good level of communication with new and existing customers. Through focused, targeted activity with the support of lead generation, the role will provide a high level of customer service for existing and potential customers so that their requirements and intent are fully understood.

You will have responsibility for the achievement of an annual revenue target allocated by geographical territory. Working closely with colleagues in Sales & Marketing, you will identify and engage potential new customers, presenting the client's solution, qualifying the opportunity and, wherever possible, closing a deal.

The role involves administering the sales order accurately and completing all necessary paperwork, working closely with the Logistics team who fulfil the sales orders. It also involves regularly updating Salesforce and providing timely, accurate information back into the business. The role requires extensive travelling across a wide geographical area. You will be provided with all the necessary tools to manage the day-to-day requirements of the role such as a company car, smartphone, laptop, branded clothing, etc.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
  • Deliver a monthly sales target
  • Follow up sales leads provided through to on-site demo
  • Generate leads by looking for potential prospects in areas where visits are taking place
  • Schedule and deliver on-site onboarding and training to new and existing customers
  • Ensure customer ecommerce subscriptions are set up following successful onboarding
  • Visit existing customers as part of pre-scheduled field activity to promote the client's products and services
  • Attend to existing customers where the product/hardware team require field attendance to support any product-related issues
  • Provide an outstanding level of customer service and after-sales support
  • Adopt a professional manner at all times with colleagues and customers
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, as part of ISO accreditation
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, quality standards and Health and Safety practices
  • Other ad-hoc duties assigned by the business
Specific job skills:
  • Able to work on own initiative and multi-task

  • Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • An understanding of the sales process is also desirable, including: territory planning, account management, qualification, forecasting and reporting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including listening, questioning, negotiation and problem resolution
  • Ability to follow a process
  • Ability to remain calm in a pressurised environment
Computer skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft programmes
  • Knowledge and experience with CRM Systems (Salesforce is desirable)
Qualifications/Experience:
  • Experience in a commercial, customer-facing role in the automotive industry
  • Sales experience preferred. Automotive City and Guilds or NVQ qualification (desirable)
  • ATA Qualified – The Institute of Motor Industry (Grade 3+)
