A well-established and growing law firm in Manchester is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join its litigation team. The firm handles a varied caseload of consumer and commercial disputes and is looking for a motivated individual who is comfortable managing a busy workload, working closely with senior fee earners and progressing matters from initial assessment through to resolution.
The Role
- Assist with a range of litigation matters and be responsible for tasks including:
- Reviewing new claims and carrying out initial legal research;
- Drafting correspondence, witness statements, applications and other legal documents;
- Communicating with clients, solicitors, Counsel and third parties;
- Managing case files, deadlines, hearings and key documentation;
- Assisting with settlement discussions and dispute resolution;
- Preparing matters for hearings and trial;
- Maintaining accurate records and updating the firm's case management system;
- Supporting solicitors and senior team members with the progression of claims.
About You
- The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A law degree or equivalent legal qualification;
- Previous experience working as a paralegal or within a legal claims environment;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail;
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines;
- Confidence working independently and as part of a team;
- Good Microsoft Office and general IT skills;
- A professional, client-focused approach.
Experience managing your own files or working within litigation, financial disputes or consumer claims would be advantageous, but is not essential.
