An established legal services practice is seeking an experienced enforcement specialist to lead its civil enforcement and recoveries operation. The successful candidate will take ownership of strategy, technical oversight and day-to-day delivery, ensuring that judgments are converted into appropriate recovery outcomes through a commercially considered, compliant and client-focused approach.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Enforcement and Recoveries:

  • Take responsibility for the conduct and supervision of civil enforcement matters, including Part 8 applications or proceedings where appropriate; writs and warrants of control; charging orders; attachment of earnings orders; third-party debt orders; and bankruptcy or winding-up routes.
  • Provide technical and tactical guidance on matters with heightened value, complexity or enforcement risk.
  • Direct asset-location enquiries and recovery activity, selecting proportionate approaches based on prospects, costs and client objectives.
  • Maintain momentum across the full post-judgment process, from selecting an enforcement route through to conclusion and recovery.
  • Oversee adherence to applicable court procedure, professional requirements and regulatory obligations, including relevant CPR, SRA and FCA requirements.
  • Ensure concerns or complaints arising from enforcement activity are investigated and resolved appropriately.

Leadership and Direction:

  • Set the direction for enforcement work and translate wider business priorities into practical team objectives and delivery plans.
  • Manage, coach and develop a multidisciplinary group of solicitors, paralegals and operational support colleagues.
  • Establish clear measures of success across collections, speed of resolution, service standards and cost control; review results and take corrective action where needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and decision-making through better processes, management information and appropriate technology.

Clients and Operational Delivery:

  • Serve as the senior escalation and relationship contact for clients using the enforcement service.
  • Explain available recovery options, likely outcomes, associated costs and material risks to support informed decisions.
  • Provide clear, regular updates on financial recoveries, case progress and overall performance.
  • Refine working practices and case-management processes to strengthen consistency, capacity and efficiency.
  • Use operational reporting to assess recovery performance, turnaround times and client experience.

Your Attributes:

  • Qualification as a solicitor or an equivalent relevant professional qualification, supported by substantial contentious litigation and civil enforcement experience.
  • Strong command of civil procedure and the legal remedies available to enforce judgments.
  • A track record of leading people, managing delivery and building team capability.
  • Sound commercial judgement, a pragmatic approach to risk and a clear focus on client service.
  • Experience overseeing a mix of sizeable and high-volume enforcement caseloads.

Additional Useful Experience:

  • Working knowledge of the Proclaim case-management platform.
  • Exposure to debt collection, insolvency proceedings or tracing and recovering assets.
  • Experience applying technology, reporting tools or data analysis to legal operations.
  • Evidence of developing client relationships or contributing to new-business opportunities.

Your Strengths:

  • Ability to turn longer-term objectives into practical priorities.
  • Confident people leadership, coaching and stakeholder management.
  • Effective negotiation, judgement and influencing skills.
  • Careful attention to detail, sound risk assessment and ownership of results.
