Job Description
- Evaluate fire risks and develop effective control measures / Advise on equipment and procedures for work in flammable atmospheres
- Manage a fire maintenance contract and oversee maintenance and installation of fire detection, suppression, and extinguishing systems
- Identify fire safety training needs and develop/deliver suitable training
- Financial Planning, forecasting, approval requests and control of fire capital and revenue spend
- Advise on regulatory requirements and assure compliant systems and controls
- Liaise with Facility and Planning engineering to specify, approve, procure, and manage the installation of new fire systems including improvements, upgrades, and refurbishment to existing systems.
- Liaise with NML, fire authority, regulatory bodies, insurance companies and action improvement items
- Specify and manage the installation of fire system improvements
- General fire and Safety support covering, incident investigation and reporting, coordinate fire drills and expedite appropriate actions. Carry out fire inspections and audits, monitor / oversee appropriate actions and escalate short falls
Qualifications & Additional Skills
- Experienced Fire/H&S professional in the field of Engineering/Manufacturing
- Ideally, member (by examination) of Institution of Fire Engineers
- Fire/H&S/ Engineering related Degree
- Thorough understanding of UK & EU Fire safety legislation
- Team player with good interpersonal skills
- Strong influencing and effective meeting skills
- Essential: NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- Desirable: NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- Membership of IOSH, IIRSM or similar professional body
