Pay: £11.44 Per Hours + Weekly Holiday Pay Contract: Temporary On going Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-4pm Start: 25th November Job Summary: A School Caretaker plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. The role involves overseeing the upkeep, cleanliness, and safety of school buildings, grounds, and equipment. Responsibilities also include minor repairs, liaising with contractors, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities: 1. Maintenance and Repairs * Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to school facilities and equipment (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry). * Monitor the building for any issues or damage and arrange for repairs or professional contractors when necessary. * Inspect playgrounds, classrooms, and communal areas to ensure they are safe and in good working condition. 2. Security * Open and close the school premises at the beginning and end of each day, ensuring all doors, windows, and gates are secure. * Conduct regular security checks to prevent vandalism, theft, or unauthorised access to school property. * Respond to security issues outside of normal working hours if needed. 3. Health and Safety * Maintain a safe environment for pupils, staff, and visitors by following health and safety guidelines. * Regularly check fire alarms, emergency lighting, and security systems to ensure they are in working order. * Complete routine risk assessments of school grounds and buildings. 4. Cleaning and Waste Management * Support cleaning staff to ensure that all areas of the school are kept clean, hygienic, and presentable. * Empty bins and manage recycling and waste disposal, ensuring school premises remain litter-free. * Oversee the safe storage and handling of cleaning supplies and chemicals. 5. Grounds Maintenance * Maintain the school grounds, including gardening, clearing pathways, and removing any hazards. * Ensure all outdoor areas, such as playgrounds and car parks, are clean and safe for use. * Clear snow, ice, or other obstructions from walkways during winter. 6.
