Join our growing Engineering team in Avonmouth as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer. Reporting directly to the Automation Engineering Manager, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our site running smoothly and efficiently, working with a wide range of modern automation equipment including conveyors, AMR robots, and carton-handling machinery.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to take the next step in a stable, supportive, and forward-thinking business. You’ll be involved in all aspects of planned and reactive maintenance and will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge automated systems.
This role is based in Avonmouth - Monday – Friday, 07:00 – 16:00 (40 Hour week) with participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on automation equipment across the site.
- Develop new skills and gain hands-on experience with advanced automated systems.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment faults quickly to minimise downtime.
- Work safely at all times, adhering to company policies and regulatory standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
- Participate in an on-call rota and occasional weekend cover (overtime available).
- Collaborate closely with operational teams to maximise automation availability and reduce production impact.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure systems remain compliant and operational.
- Complete thorough risk assessments and follow safe working practices throughout all tasks.
- Proven experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role.
- Time-served apprenticeship desirable but not essential.
- Relevant qualifications such as ONC, NVQ Level 3, MS Elec, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of automation systems, including fault-finding and troubleshooting.
- Experience delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to weekend work when required.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to safety.
- Good IT capability, particularly with Microsoft Excel and general office applications.
- Experience using CMMS software is an advantage but not essential.
- Driving License.
