Nisbets Limited are currently recruiting for an
Inbound Manager to join our Group Operations & Supply Chain team this role will be supporting the efficient management of inbound logistics and ensuring the smooth flow of goods into our UK and IE distribution network.
As an Inbound Manager at Nisbets, you will be part of a collaborative team responsible for managing inbound container shipments, monitoring freight forwarder performance, and ensuring supplier delivery schedules align with operational capacity and demand planning.
You will play a key role in maintaining visibility across the supply chain and driving improvements in cost, efficiency, and service delivery.
This is a fast-paced and varied role, requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally.
You will work closely with Inventory Planning, Operations, Freight Forwarders, and Global Sourcing teams, using systems and data to coordinate activity, resolve issues, and optimise supply chain performance.
This role will be based at our
Fourth Way office in Avonmouth , with flexibility to work from home as part of a hybrid working pattern following a period of training.
- Key Accountabilities
- Manage the execution of inbound container shipments in line with demand planning requirements and inbound capacity.
- Monitor freight forwarder performance, ensuring adherence to agreed service levels and ways of working.
- Lead regular operational meetings with Inventory, Freight Forwarders, and Distribution Centre teams at key stages (pre-booking, pre-shipment, and pre-ETA).
- Produce monthly reporting on inbound freight forecasts and performance.
- Identify and implement supply chain improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Build strong working relationships with Inventory Demand Planning, Operations, and Global Sourcing teams.
- Maintain accurate supplier data and planning parameters within systems.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for critical activities.
- Manage supply chain disruptions proactively, including forecasting and minimising demurrage and detention costs.
- Ensure transparency of open orders and delivery timelines across the business.
- Provide cover and continuity for key inbound logistics activities when required.
- Capabilities, Skills and Experience Required
- Experience managing long lead-time supply chains (typically 8–12 weeks or more).
- Strong understanding of international supply chains and logistics processes.
- Previous experience working with freight forwarders and/or third-party logistics providers (3PLs) is advantageous.
- Advanced Excel and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Collaborative approach with strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to use insights to inform decisions.
