Nisbets Limited are currently recruiting for a Class 1 Driver / Shunter to join our Carrier Team and play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of trailers and stock across our Avonmouth Estate and Chepstow locations. This role will be based on-site across our transport and warehouse operations, with daily interaction with colleagues across the estate. The Shift pattern will be Monday to Friday 3pm to 12 midnight.

The successful candidate will be responsible for moving trailers between sites, supporting warehouse operations, and ensuring full compliance with legal and company safety standards. Working closely with the Transport and Warehouse teams, you will help maintain the flow of goods, support operational productivity, and uphold our commitment to high safety and service standards.

You will complete essential vehicle checks, assist with onsite shunting, and ensure that all licence, CPC, and operator compliance requirements are consistently met. This role is ideal for a reliable, safety-focused Class 1 Driver with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.

Key Accountabilities
  • Carry out all legally required and company-mandated checks on vehicles and trailers to ensure full compliance.
  • Ensure the safe, prompt, and efficient movement of trailers across the Avonmouth Estate and Chepstow — including bay-to-bay transfers.
  • Uphold all Health & Safety standards and follow Safe Systems of Work throughout daily operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organised tractor cab and working environment at all times.
  • Adhere to all requirements associated with CPC and Class 1 licence standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with the company Operator’s Licence obligations.
  • Download driver Digi cards weekly in line with legal requirements.
  • Support warehouse teams by shunting trailers and containers within yard spaces as required.
  • Work with the transport team to make all tractor units and trailers available for scheduled PMI and MOT checks.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required
  • Current and valid Class 1 licence, with a minimum of two years’ driving experience.
  • A clean UK driving licence preferred.
  • Confident in manoeuvring trailers on and off loading bays.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Previous experience in both driving and warehouse operations desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team to maximise productivity.
