SharkNinja is seeking an Electrical Technician / Electrical Specialist to support R&D teams developing electrically powered household appliances. This hands-on role sits within the development laboratories, supporting prototype builds, validation rigs, electrical troubleshooting, and early stage safety assessments across both mains powered and battery operated products.
You will work closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure electrical systems are implemented safely, robustly, and in line with IEC 60335 safety principles throughout the development process. This role is ideal for someone with a strong practical electrical background who enjoys working across a wide variety of tasks in a fast-moving product development environment.
The successful candidate will bring a broad technical skillset, strong problem-solving ability, and a proactive approach to identifying electrical and safety risks early in development.
What You Will Do- Support prototype builds by wiring, modifying, reviewing, and troubleshooting electrical systems for both plugged and battery operated appliances.
- Build, maintain, and modify validation rigs, test fixtures, and temporary laboratory setups to support product development activities.
- Inspect prototypes to ensure safe electrical construction, correct wiring practices, and robust component implementation.
- Support rapid iteration by diagnosing and resolving electrical issues within prototypes and test rigs.
- Work with battery powered products, supporting charging systems, protection concepts, and general BMS awareness.
- Perform and support electrical safety testing including leakage current, dielectric strength, and earth continuity testing.
- Assist with abnormal operation testing such as stalled motors, blocked airflow conditions, and fault simulations.
- Review wiring layouts, component selection, creepage and clearance distances, flexible cords, strain relief methods, and electrical construction practices.
- Support evaluations relating to resistance to heat and fire, material behaviour, and overall construction safety.
- Set up and execute electrical tests in R&D labs following defined procedures and engineering requirements.
- Collect, document, and communicate test results, observations, and build feedback to engineering and compliance teams.
- Support internal reviews, pre-compliance activities, and external lab testing activities.
- Identify potential electrical and safety risks early and communicate findings clearly to project teams.
- Strong practical knowledge of electrical systems used in household appliances and consumer products.
- Comfortable working with mains voltage, low voltage, and battery powered systems.
- Solid understanding of insulation systems, earthing, leakage current, dielectric testing, and creepage and clearance concepts.
- Hands-on experience with wiring, prototype modification, electrical rework, and fault simulation.
- Familiarity with laboratory test equipment including leakage testers, continuity testers, thermal instrumentation, and hipot testing.
- Working knowledge of IEC 60335 safety principles, structure, and intent.
- Understanding of safety critical components and how standards influence product design and testing decisions.
- Electrical technician, electrician, or equivalent hands-on electrical background.
- Experience working within R&D labs, prototype environments, or product development settings preferred.
- Experience with consumer products, household appliances, or regulated electrical equipment is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with a safety focused mindset.
- Adaptable, resourceful, and comfortable working in fast-paced laboratory environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams and external test labs.
- Naturally curious with a proactive approach to identifying and solving electrical challenges.
- Motivated to continue developing technical knowledge, including IEC 60335 compliance and electrical safety testing practices.
