About the Role
SharkNinja is seeking a self‑driven Cost Engineer to support both Shark and Ninja new product lines by developing accurate "should be" cost models throughout the product development process. In this role, you will work closely with the AD and NPD teams to understand product architecture, manufacturing methods, and component selection in order to define the lowest possible cost to produce a product.
What You Will Do
- Coordinate product details to generate early ballpark cost estimates during the AD phase.
- Develop and maintain should‑be cost models that reflect the latest product definition throughout prototype builds.
- Review CBOMs from suppliers to validate cost assumptions and identify opportunities.
- Deliver reports and presentation summaries highlighting key cost drivers and opportunities.
- Review should‑be costs for consistency and accuracy across projects.
- Generate critical component lists and work with Supply Chain teams to support supplier quoting activities.
- Provide recommendations to product teams on design approaches that support lower cost manufacturing.
- Support competitive product teardowns to understand materials, components, assembly methods, and feature implementation.
- Prepare weekly project updates and participate in regular collaboration calls with the China cost engineering team.
- Participate in product reviews, technical discussions, and hack sessions.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience in an engineering related field, preferably within product development.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Experience working with consumer products or other high‑volume manufacturing environments.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- A proactive mindset and strong drive to identify the lowest achievable product cost.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Basic knowledge of plastics and metal manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks or Creo.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear summaries, insights, and recommendations.
