London | Hybrid (3 days in office – Tues & Thurs anchor days)
Build the sales engine behind some of the most exclusive deal-making events in global finance. We're partnering with a PE-backed, high-growth international events business operating at the very top end of capital markets and private finance. This is not a volume conference business. These are invitation-only, deal-driven events where senior decision-makers from global banks, asset managers, hedge funds and private credit firms come together to do business in the room.
Think:
- £3,000–£5,000 delegate passes
- Hosted buyer and curated 1-to-1 meetings models
- Sponsors like global banks and investment houses (not tech vendors)
- Five-star venues, first-class hospitality, and unforgettable experiences
- Flagship events generating £5–6m over two days
The opportunity:
Following continued growth and recent international acquisitions, the business is now hiring a Head of Sales to take full ownership of a £13m+ global portfolio spanning:
- Middle East (including a flagship Saudi event – the jewel in the crown)
- Africa (the biggest growth opportunity this year, including Sub-Saharan Africa)
- Central & Eastern Europe
- United States
You'll lead a high-performing London-based sales team (c.9 people and growing), managing senior sales managers across delegates, sponsorship and partnerships, while freeing up the MD and senior leadership to focus on growth, strategy and key client relationships. This is a true player/manager role - hands-on, visible, commercial, and influential.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Sales Leadership & Ownership
- Own and deliver the global sales strategy across a portfolio of c.12 high-value events
- Lead, coach and performance-manage an experienced international sales team
- Take over day-to-day management of senior sales managers
- Set clear KPIs, forecasting and revenue accountability
- Drive sponsorship, delegate and meeting-package sales across global markets
- Develop new revenue streams and commercial partnerships
- Personally lead on key strategic accounts and high-value deals
- Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders across:
- Global & regional banks
- Asset managers, hedge funds & private credit firms
- Sovereign wealth funds, central banks & government bodies
- Work closely with content and production teams to ensure events remain market-leading
- Feed market intelligence into product development and expansion plans
- Partner with the executive team and PE stakeholders to support growth plans
What kind of person succeeds here?
You'll come from a B2B events commercial environment, with:
- Proven experience leading international sponsorship (spex) sales teams
- A track record of selling high-value, relationship-led products or experiences
- Confidence operating with senior, high-net-worth and C-suite audiences
- Strong commercial instincts and the credibility to lead from the front
- A calm, confident, charismatic leadership style - high-end, not high-ego
- Experience in emerging markets is highly advantageous
You'll be comfortable switching between strategy, leadership and closing deals - and you'll genuinely enjoy being part of the action.
Why this role stands out:
- PE-backed business with serious growth ambition
- Market-leading events where real deals happen
- A premium product with no cost-cutting mentality – quality matters here
- Exposure to some of the most influential players in global finance
- A senior leadership role with genuine autonomy and impact
