About the Role
As part of the client’s global Virtualization Engineering team, you will play a critical role in testing, integrating, and building a next-generation infrastructure based on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). This is a strategic, multi-year programme leveraging vendor partnerships and expert consultants to deliver a scalable, highly automated virtualization platform. You will be instrumental in the design, engineering, and integration of large-scale VCF deployments across both greenfield and brownfield environments, ensuring scalability, resilience, and seamless integration with existing enterprise infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer large-scale, global virtualization platforms using VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), including compute, storage, networking, and security components.
- Lead the evaluation, certification, benchmarking, and integration of VCF within existing brownfield environments and new greenfield deployments.
- Develop and document detailed integration and migration plans, including risk assessments and operational scaling strategies.
- Oversee project execution, collaborating closely with internal engineering teams, vendor consultants, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment with Infrastructure as Code principles, leveraging automation tools such as Ansible and Python, and integrating with proprietary configuration management systems.
- Drive operational excellence through system hardening, security compliance, and performance optimisation.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience designing and deploying large-scale VMware virtualization platforms, ideally with hands-on exposure to VCF in both greenfield and brownfield scenarios.
- Deep expertise in VMware ESXi, vSphere, vSAN, including design, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Experience contributing to or leading multi-year VMware Cloud Foundation rollouts.
- Strong background in infrastructure sizing, capacity planning, and integrating complex, multi-vendor environments.
- Solid technical foundations across hardware, Linux operating systems, networking, and storage.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical designs.
- Ability to work independently, lead cross-functional initiatives, and deliver results in a global, high-pressure environment.

- Advanced troubleshooting across hardware, OS, network, storage, and virtualization layers.
- Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated testing.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable Python code for automation and infrastructure integration.
