We are seeking an experienced Product Lead to join a complex, multi-team public sector programme operating within a GDS-aligned environment. This is a strategic role working alongside an existing Product Lead to shape product direction, define value, and provide leadership across multiple delivery teams in a fast-evolving and ambiguous landscape.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience operating within Government Digital Service (GDS) standards, ensuring alignment to service assessments, user-centred design principles, and digital delivery best practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic product leadership across multiple teams and workstreams, rather than focusing on a single squad.
  • Partner closely with the existing Product Lead to define and drive overall product strategy and long-term vision.
  • Shape and articulate clear value propositions for both end users and the organisation.
  • Engage and influence Director-level stakeholders and senior leaders, building alignment across complex governance structures.
  • Operate effectively in high-ambiguity environments, creating clarity, structure, and direction where it may not yet exist.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners and Delivery Leads to ensure strategic objectives translate into practical, deliverable outcomes.
  • Ensure products align with GDS standards, including service assessments, accessibility, user research, and iterative delivery principles.
  • Balance long-term strategic thinking with near-term delivery constraints and operational realities.
Ideal Experience
  • Proven track record as a Product Lead or Senior Product Manager within large, complex programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience working within GDS frameworks and delivering services in line with Government Service Standard.
  • Experience in public sector or other regulated environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior leadership level.
  • Comfortable navigating organisational complexity, competing priorities, and evolving requirements.
  • Clear, confident communicator able to align diverse stakeholders around a shared product vision.
