Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are proud to be supporting a well-established and ambitious whisky business as they seek to appoint a Capital Projects Manager to join their Technical & Compliance team. This is a unique opportunity to take the lead on major capital investment projects across all stages of whisky production – from distillation and maturation to bottling and packaging. With significant investment planned, this is a high-impact role at the heart of the company’s future growth, innovation, and sustainability strategy.
The Opportunity:
As Capital Projects Manager, you will drive end-to-end delivery of capital projects including site upgrades, equipment installations, layout changes and new builds. You will work across multi-disciplinary teams and sites, ensuring that all projects are executed to scope, on time, and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards in safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a wide variety of capital projects across distillery, maturation, and packaging operations.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, timelines, and risk registers.
- Ensure projects align with business growth, technical compliance (DSEAR/ATEX), and HMRC regulations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with H&S, operations, quality, sustainability, and external contractors.
- Champion energy-efficient and sustainable design throughout all capital initiatives.
- Report on project ROI and support annual/long-term capital investment plans.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience delivering capital projects in a manufacturing or process-driven environment (distilling/FMCG/pharma/food ideal but other process industries are considered).
- Strong understanding of project governance, legislation, and compliance (e.g. DSEAR, ATEX, HMRC bonded).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainability.
- Relevant engineering or technical degree preferred but other similar qualifications considered.
