If you know whisky, you’ll know Glen Scotia – \”Glen Scotia is whisky from the whiskiest place in the world\”

Nestled on Scotland’s west coast, in the historic town of Campbeltown – once the beating heart of the whisky world – Glen Scotia stands as one of the few surviving distilleries from that golden era. Its legacy stretches back nearly two centuries, and today, it’s enjoying a remarkable resurgence.

Crowned \”Best Whisky in the World\” and \”Distillery of the Year\”, Glen Scotia has become one of Scotland’s most respected names in single malt. The team has worked hard to build a brand that balances craft and innovation – producing exceptional whisky that carries the soul of Campbeltown to drinkers around the world.

This opportunity is an incredible high profile and career defining opportunity for an experienced Distillery Manager to lead one of the most admired sites in Scotch whisky.

The Role:

As Distillery Manager, you’ll take the helm and be the Brand Face of Glen Scotia – overseeing daily operations, guiding a skilled team of around 14 people, and ensuring every drop that leaves the stills upholds the reputation Glen Scotia is known for.

You’ll be responsible for distillation, warehousing, and blending on site, with production sitting around 500,000 litres annually and over 12,000 casks maturing under your care.

Reporting directly to the Head of Distillation, you’ll play a central role in the distillation leadership team, helping to shape Glen Scotia’s long term direction as it continues to grow and evolve within the Loch Lomond Group.

You will:

  • Lead the distillery’s daily operations, ensuring consistent production of high-quality spirit.
  • Deliver the annual production plan on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, efficiency, sustainability, and yield.
  • Manage key distillery metrics: yield, cost per LA, energy and water intensity, and quality standards.
  • Build and develop a high-performing team – leading, mentoring and creating a culture of pride and accountability.
  • Ensure full compliance with HMRC, H&S, and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate across the business with procurement, blending, warehousing and operations teams.
  • Support strategic projects, capital investment, and long-term distillation planning.
  • This is a hands on leadership role, suited to someone who enjoys being close to the process while also thinking strategically about how to make it better.

About You

  • You will be a current Distillery Manager from Single Malt Distilling
  • You will have a proven record of leading teams, improving processes, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety
  • Demonstrated technical gravitas with the ability to command respect from colleagues across all technical aspects of the process
  • Proven capability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, providing confident leadership and guidance to experienced team members
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a team that includes long serving, highly skilled professionals
  • Natural ability to inspire confidence and trust through technical competence and sound decision making
  • A positive attitude and sense of fun, contributing to a workplace culture that values professionalism while maintaining an enjoyable and engaging environment
  • You will be authentic and an approachable, natural leader who earns respect through trust and knowledge
  • Hands on and practical, but equally comfortable managing budgets, KPIs, and improvement projects
  • Engaged and collaborative, able to build strong relationships across teams and functions
  • Passionate about people, process and whisky
