We are seeking a committed and motivated Deputy Nursery Manager to join our professional and supportive early years team. About the Role

Working closely with the Nursery Manager, the Deputy Nursery Manager will play a key role in the effective day-to-day management of the nursery, supporting high standards of care and education in line with EYFS, Ofsted and safeguarding requirements. In the Manager’s absence, you will confidently assume operational responsibility for the setting. This role offers a balance of hands-on practice, leadership, staff development and operational oversight, making it ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their early years management career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Nursery Manager in leading, motivating and developing the staff team
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting professional practice and high standards
  • Deputise for the Nursery Manager as required, ensuring continuity and quality
  • Assist with staff deployment, ratios and daily operational management
  • Support the induction, coaching and ongoing development of staff and students
  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring safeguarding remains central to practice
  • Build strong, professional relationships with parents and external agencies
  • Contribute to a safe, well-organised and welcoming nursery environment

About You

  • Hold a Level 3 (or above) Early Years qualification
  • Have experience in a senior, room leader or deputy role within an early years setting
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding and best practice
  • Be confident, organised and approachable, with effective leadership skills
  • Show a clear ambition for career progression within early years management
