The business provides a full design, installation and management service, covering project management, design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance. The role involves assisting with the management of mechanical building services projects from initial handover through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard. Responsibilities include:
- Support with the procurement of plant, materials and subcontractor packages, helping to secure best value while keeping projects within budget.
- Help assess labour requirements, coordinate site resource and monitor progress to ensure works are delivered on programme.
- Attend site regularly to monitor quality, progress, health and safety, and resolve day-to-day issues alongside site teams, engineers and subcontractors.
- Assist with monthly applications for payment, variation costing, purchasing records, project spend forecasts and work-in-progress reports.
- Support the preparation and monitoring of RAMS, ensuring site teams are working safely and in line with current legislation and company standards.
- Work closely with clients, consultants, architects, surveyors, internal design teams and site teams to ensure clear communication throughout the project.
- Assist with tender submissions, project handovers, certification, commissioning records and the preparation of O&M manuals.
What you will need:
- A mechanical building services background.
- Experience within HVAC, pipework, heating, ventilation, public health or mechanical installation.
- Some project management experience, or a strong trade/supervisory background with the desire to move into management.
- Good numeracy, literacy and organisational skills.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- A current CSCS card or NVQ Level 3 would be highly beneficial.
- Good communication skills and confidence dealing with site teams, subcontractors and clients.
- A proactive, methodical approach to problem-solving.
- A genuine desire to learn, develop and progress into a Contracts Manager role.
The package includes a competitive salary around £45,000 - £48,000 depending on experience, negotiable car allowance, 25 days holiday per annum, ongoing training and development, and long-term progression into a Mechanical Contracts Manager role.
