The client is a well-established and highly respected MEP contractor operating across London and the South East. Specialising in the design and delivery of mechanical and electrical services, they support a wide range of sectors including residential, commercial, education, healthcare and leisure. With a commitment to sustainability, innovation and high-quality service, the company continues to grow at pace. Due to this continued growth, they are now looking to recruit a Mechanical Estimator to join their experienced pre-construction team.
The Role: As Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical services on a variety of new build and refurbishment projects. Working closely with the Pre-Construction Manager and wider commercial team, your role will be integral in helping the business win and deliver profitable, well-designed projects across a range of sectors. Key responsibilities will include:
- Interpreting drawings and specifications
- Preparing tender submissions
- Conducting supplier/subcontractor enquiries
- Attending site visits
- Working with design and operational teams to ensure that bids are aligned with the company's technical and commercial objectives
You will play a key part in ensuring the company maintains its high standards of quality and cost control, and will have the opportunity to shape bid strategy on a project-by-project basis.
The requirement: You will have a background in mechanical building services with strong estimating experience, ideally gained within an M&E contracting environment. A solid understanding of mechanical systems in commercial and residential developments is essential, as well as the ability to read technical drawings, produce take-offs, and price projects from first principles. Experience using estimation software and tools is preferred, and familiarity with both D&B and traditional contract arrangements is advantageous. You'll be an excellent communicator, confident working in a fast-paced pre-construction team, and motivated by producing high-quality, commercially competitive tenders.

As a guide, the salary is likely to be in the region of £60,000 - £70,000, depending on experience, with the potential for performance-based bonuses.
