The Role
In this role, you will be instrumental in building secure, accessible, and user-centric mobile applications that deliver critical services to millions of citizens. You will work within an agile, cross-functional team, taking ownership of the end-to-end mobile development lifecycle across both major platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable, and reliable native applications for both iOS and Android.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Ensure code quality, security, and strict adherence to government digital accessibility standards (WCAG/GDS).
- Implement automated testing and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
What We’re Looking For
- Dual-Platform Expertise: Proven commercial experience developing native applications for both iOS (Swift/Objective-C) and Android (Kotlin/Java).
- Tech Stack: Strong understanding of mobile UI design principles, RESTful APIs, and mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture).
- Engineering Best Practices: Solid experience with Git, agile methodologies, and test-driven development (TDD).
- Public Sector Fit: A strong commitment to building inclusive, accessible technology. (Prior experience working with UK government or public sector clients is a strong plus).
- Clearances: Must be eligible for standard UK security clearances (e.g., BPSS or SC).
