The Role

In this role, you will be instrumental in building secure, accessible, and user‑centric mobile applications that deliver critical services to millions of citizens. You will work within an agile, cross‑functional team, taking ownership of the end‑to‑end mobile development lifecycle across both major platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain high‑performance, reusable, and reliable native applications for both iOS and Android.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Ensure code quality, security, and strict adherence to government digital accessibility standards (WCAG/GDS).
  • Implement automated testing and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

What We’re Looking For

  • Dual‑Platform Expertise: Proven commercial experience developing native applications for both iOS (Swift/Objective‑C) and Android (Kotlin/Java).
  • Tech Stack: Strong understanding of mobile UI design principles, RESTful APIs, and mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture).
  • Engineering Best Practices: Solid experience with Git, agile methodologies, and test‑driven development (TDD).
  • Public Sector Fit: A strong commitment to building inclusive, accessible technology. (Prior experience working with UK government or public sector clients is a strong plus).
  • Clearances: Must be eligible for standard UK security clearances (e.g., BPSS or SC).
