We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Production Technician to work on site at our facility in Tring, Hertfordshire and help us deliver the company's vision and long-term success.

What is your role?

As a Production Technician, you will play a key role in the assembly, testing, verification and repair of our industry-leading X-Ray systems and components. Working within our Operations team, you will support multiple stages of the manufacturing process, ensuring products are built, tested and released to the highest standards of quality and reliability.

This is a hands-on position requiring excellent attention to detail, strong technical skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. You will work closely with Team Leaders and colleagues across Operations to meet production schedules, support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain the high standards expected by Nikon X-Tek Systems and our customers.

What are your key areas of responsibility?

Assembly, Test and Repair

  • Carry out assembly, build, test, verification and repair activities to the required standards.
  • Follow engineering drawings, build instructions, specifications and controlled documentation.
  • Perform diagnostic and fault-finding activities where required to support product quality and reliability.
  • Complete structured verification and testing activities to ensure products meet performance and quality requirements before release.

Quality and Continuous Improvement

  • Take ownership of workmanship quality and ensure all work is completed accurately and consistently.
  • Identify issues, risks and potential improvements, escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Accurately complete production records, test documentation, repair reports and quality records.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing waste, improving quality and increasing efficiency.
  • Maintain high standards of 5S and workplace organisation.

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Follow all site Health & Safety requirements, including PPE, ESD controls and safe systems of work.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and compliant working environment.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support the company's commitment to quality, safety and operational excellence.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with Team Leaders and colleagues to meet production schedules and operational targets.
  • Provide clear feedback on build issues, test findings, repair concerns and process improvements.
  • Support cross-functional teamwork and knowledge sharing across Operations.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, integrity, customer focus and continuous improvement in line with company values.

Essential

  • Experience working within a manufacturing, assembly, test or repair environment.
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings, engineering specifications and work instructions.
  • Experience using hand tools, measuring equipment and basic test equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Experience completing production, test or quality documentation accurately.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Understanding of safe working practices, including ESD controls and workshop safety.
  • Flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational requirements.

Desirable

  • Formal training or qualifications in mechanical, electrical or electronic assembly.
  • Experience working within a high-precision manufacturing environment such as aerospace, medical devices, electronics, optics or similar industries.
  • Experience in diagnostics, troubleshooting and fault-finding.
  • Experience supporting testing, verification or calibration activities.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as 5S, standard work or root cause analysis.
  • Experience using digital production systems, ERP systems or electronic quality records.
