WHO YOU\’LL WORK WITH
As a Lead Project Engineer, you\’ll collaborate with external vendors and our program team, including process & construction teammates, to build automation in a new Distribution Centre for a leading global brand.
The goal is to develop a cutting-edge omni-channel DC featuring the latest innovations, automation, and iconic design. We seek a Lead Project Engineer to help implement a material handling solution for our UK Distribution Centre, planned for launch in 2027.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Professional qualification in engineering or equivalent experience, with familiarity in automation (mechanical, electrical & controls).
- Broad technical knowledge, including experience with MHE installation (electrical, mechanical, PLC, pneumatics).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams.

WHAT YOU\’LL WORK ON
As a Project Engineer, you will lead the end-to-end installation of material handling systems, from start-up through testing, commissioning, and acceptance, ensuring a smooth handover at the DC launch.
Within the Automation team, you\’ll oversee the implementation of optimal material handling solutions, requiring comprehensive understanding of all automation aspects (mechanical, electrical, controls).
- Report to the Process & Automation Director on technical project delivery.
- Ensure technical and quality standards are met during installation.
- Adhere to Nike\’s quality processes and procedures.
- Lead by example in health and safety practices.
- Collaborate closely with principal contractors and OEM vendors.
- Manage all aspects of your automation/MHE project, including vendor management, contracts, and standards.
- Line manage project engineers, setting priorities and supporting risk and issue resolution, while fostering their professional growth.
- Coordinate with stakeholders like PMO, Procurement, Construction, and Finance as needed.
- Serve as the primary contact for MHE implementation with UK, European, and global stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, leveraging your expertise.
- Coordinate with design, planning, and installation teams for seamless integration with other projects.
- Engage with internal and external partners to achieve project goals using standard methodologies.
- Maintain sound project management controls, including communication, timelines, and budgets.
