The Director, Retail Stores UK (South) will lead a team of Senior Retail (Area) Managers overseeing Nike Value Stores across London, the Midlands and Southern England, and report directly to the Senior Director, Retail Stores UKI (SRD UK&I).
You will actively partner with the UK&I Retail Leadership teams and cross-functional business partners such as Retail Operations & Services, Planning, Loss Prevention, Marketing, Merchandising & People Solutions.

The role of the Director of Retail Stores is to lead, coach, and support the Sr.
Retail Manager population and their teams, ensuring the achievement of business objectives and the delivery of an exceptional customer experience in stores.
As the crucial link between EMEA-wide initiatives and the field, the Director, Retail Stores (UK / South) will influence and flag opportunities seen in the field, champion best practices, and ensure that local nuances are effectively integrated into global and EMEA strategies.
Through strong leadership, the role will drive sub-league performance and innovation while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
To be successful as a Director, Retail Stores (UK / South) you will need to meet the following requirements, Note: This is a field-based role requiring regular business travel to stores across the assigned geography, based on business priorities with flexibility regarding work location.
- WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON Business
- Analyze financial, labor and weekly trade data to identify profitability, budget and performance opportunities, ensuring clear cascade, follow-up and accountability with Sr Retail Managers and relevant stakeholders.
- Partner cross-functionally to improve sub-league performance through store-specific actions, resolve recurring trade-related issues, and ensure the commercial calendar is locally relevant, well planned and impactful during key seasonal moments.
- Drive Nike Direct strategy across the field by sharing best practices, influencing global and EMEA initiatives to reflect local needs, supporting Sr Retail Manager execution, and maintaining a full view of Nike Owned Stores, including openings, closures, refits and real estate opportunities.
- Where relevant under the local legal framework, act as a stakeholder in the day-to-day management of labor relations body relationships within the league.
- Service & Selling
- Build a consistent understanding of Nike's service and selling expectations across the sub-league, while championing and embedding initiatives that strengthen service and selling.
- Review sub-league Post Purchase Survey data to assess service and selling culture, support Sr Retail Managers in addressing negative trends at sub-league or store level and hold Sr Retail Managers accountable for meeting service expectations across stores.
- Talent & Culture
- Lead, coach and develop Sr Retail Managers across all people-management responsibilities, including hiring, onboarding and performance excellence, while ensuring Sr Retail Managers coach and develop Head Coaches and store management teams in line with Nike frameworks.
- Identify sub-league skills gaps and partner cross-functionally to develop and roll out training programs that support team development.
- Ensure career pathing and talent development processes are followed across the sub-league in line with Nike expectations.
- Operational Excellence
- Ensure Retail Operations & Services initiatives are adopted across the sub-league, while regularly reviewing Store Standards and Processes reports to identify trends, gaps and risks and champion Sr Retail Managers to resolve them.
- Analyze OE reviews completed by Sr Retail Managers to identify sub-league trends across store and field leadership, partner with relevant stakeholders to mitigate negative trends, and ensure operational KPIs including SSP, Ops Health dashboards, Shrink and Loss Prevention are met.

Experience, functional competencies and interpersonal skills
- Extensive retail field leadership experience, with strong understanding of remote team management, product assortment, retail financials, inventory management, supply chain logistics, loss prevention, consumer market intelligence, customer service excellence and operational standards.
- Strong retail business acumen, with the ability to identify and leverage strategic retail business drivers to deliver commercial results and improve store performance.
- Proven ability to lead, coach and inspire high-performing teams remotely, creating a collaborative, motivating environment that supports engagement, development and strong performance outcomes.
- Ability to connect business strategy with consumer needs and preferences, translating insights into clear priorities and effective field execution.
