As an Engineering Lead, you will be accountable for the end to end technical delivery of complex, cloud native applications and data platforms, combining technical expertise with strong client partnership and stakeholder leadership.
You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, owning relationships, shaping solutions, and ensuring delivery aligns to both business and technical outcomes.
You will lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, data, and cloud, while remaining hand-on where needed.
Success in this role requires someone who is equally comfortable in front of a client as they are in the codebase.
- What you’ll be responsible for
- Client & Relationship Leadership
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, building trusted, long-term relationships
- Translate client needs into clear technical strategies, balancing business outcomes with engineering excellence
- Lead client workshops, technical discussions, and solution shaping sessions
- Provide clear, confident communication on progress, risks, trade-offs, and decisions
- Manage expectations and proactively address challenges, ensuring a high-quality client experience
- Partner with client stakeholders (technical and non-technical) to influence decision-making and drive alignment.
- Delivery Ownership & Leadership
- Own end-to-end delivery of projects – from discovery through to production and optimisation
- Lead and mentor engineers, setting direction, standards, and ways of working
- Drive delivery against milestones, managing risks, dependencies, and quality
- Collaborate with product, data, and cloud teams to ensure cohesive delivery
- Create a strong team culture focused on accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Architecture & Engineering
- Define scalable, secure, and resilient solution architectures across cloud, application, integration, and data platforms
- Lead the design and delivery of cloud-native, full-stack solutions using modern frontend, backend, and API technologies across AWS and Microsoft Azure
- Make pragmatic technical decisions that balance business objectives, security, scalability, cost, timelines, and operational requirements
- Champion engineering excellence by promoting high standards of code quality, performance, maintainability, security, and architectural governance
- Establish and advocate engineering best practices, design patterns, coding standards, and reusable frameworks across delivery teams
- Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, mentoring, and hand-on engineering where appropriate.
- Lead large-scale data migration and modernisation initiatives from legacy platforms to cloud-native data and database services across AWS and Microsoft Azure
- Design, build, and optimise scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using modern cloud data integration and orchestration services
- Design and implement secure, scalable data lake, lakehouse, and analytics platforms supporting structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
- Establish robust data governance, quality, lineage, metadata management, and security practices to ensure trusted, compliant, and reliable data platforms
- Develop event-driven and real-time data integration solutions that enable scalable, resilient data processing and business intelligence
- Drive platform optimisation through automation, performance tuning, cost optimisation, and operational best practices.
- Quality, Dev Ops & Reliability
- Establish robust testing strategies across UI, API, and data layers
- Own CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform), and release processes
- Ensure systems are secure, observable, performant, and cost-efficient.
- What we’re looking for
- Proven experience as an Engineering Lead / Tech Lead in client-facing environments
- Strong ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders
- Comfortable leading conversations with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Able to balance hand-on engineering with leadership and client engagement.

- Strong commercial experience designing, building and supporting cloud-native solutions on AWS and/or Microsoft Azure
