The role:
We are looking for a Transport Manager to join our UK operation based in the St Helens.
The role will focus primarily on the effective day-to-day management of the transport operation, ensuring high standards of service, safety, compliance and operational performance.
You will work closely with the local team, planners, customers and drivers, while also cooperating with colleagues across our international Group.
This is a role for someone who knows transport, enjoys working close to the operation and is looking for an opportunity to develop their responsibilities and career within an international logistics organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing the day-to-day transport operation and ensuring reliable service delivery
- Coordinating transport planning, scheduling and available resources
- Supporting effective fleet utilisation and productivity
- Working closely with drivers and the operational team
- Monitoring service quality and operational performance
- Ensuring compliance with UK transport legislation, health & safety requirements and company standards
- Management of transport-related costs and operational efficiency
- Maintaining strong day-to-day relationships with customers
- Monitoring service levels and responding to operational issues
- Working with subcontractors and external partners where required
- Identifying practical opportunities to improve processes and ways of working
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and development of operational employees
- Preparing and monitoring relevant operational KPIs
- Cooperating with colleagues across the Group and supporting the implementation of Group processes and standards
