The Project Technician along with the Pump Efficiency Riventa team will be responsible for installing pump monitoring and vibration analysis equipment across our contracts within the municipal and effluent water treatment industry. The role will also carry out project installation, maintenance on our water treatment plants and small bore hot tapping work throughout the UK. The role will be based at our Stoke‑On‑Trent office and will require frequent travel where required. The role will report into the UK Maintenance Team Leader.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Visible leadership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within NSI LCS.
- Understand the multi‑skilled (EMI) maintenance function in order to complete basic and/or complex maintenance tasks and to work unsupervised with a proactive attitude.
- Pro‑active approach to safety, inputting into monthly safety stats and KPIs, and taking an active part in ensuring the team meet its targets.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with NSI LCS personnel and subcontractor staff.
- Development and maintenance of good housekeeping practices.
- Continually look to improve methods and systems.
- Display good knowledge and use of all electronic systems used for maintenance work, i.e. CMMS.
- Utilising plant information, identify any changes in equipment performance and/or potential operational problems, evaluate and make initial recommendations to return the plant to its optimum operating condition.
- Attend maintenance‑related meetings as required, providing input as appropriate.
- Work in partnership with the Process Plant Operators.
- Identify and carry out "on‑the‑job" training of new personnel.
- Flexible and adaptable approach.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential)
- Extensive experience of carrying out all aspects of a Mechanical planned maintenance programme.
- Qualification in Mechanical Maintenance Engineering.
- TIG welding experience.
- Electrical knowledge.
- Experience of maintaining a variety of pumps.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience of working directly with sub‑contractors and dealing directly with third parties to arrange / organise tasks.
- Ability to interpret technical literature and engineering drawings to effect repairs of complex items of plant.
- Knowledge of the complete cycle of maintenance work from planning stage to implementation and completion of tasks.
- Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system.
- Hard‑working self‑starter / self‑motivated able to work on your own with little local support following initial training / induction periods.
- Experience of working in a "virtual team" environment, good IT skills.
- High level problem‑solving / fault‑finding skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literate.
- Health & safety training.
- Good interpersonal skills, able to liaise with multiple commercial/technical internal and external contacts.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Desirable)
- Confined Space training / experience.
- Chemical awareness.
- FLT / MEWP training / experience.
- C&I understanding.
- Small bore hot tapping (training given).
Working For Us Means
- The salary is between £40,000 & £48,000 per year, depending on your professional experience.
- Hours of work – 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Overtime – will be paid at 1.5.
- Holidays – 25 days + 8 statutory days.
- Probationary period – 6 months.
- Pension – Can join immediately or auto‑enrolled after 3 months – Employee 5% and Employer 5% via salary sacrifice.
- Eligible to join private healthcare after successfully completing probation.
- Eligible for death in service benefit (4 x basic salary) and group income protection upon commencement of employment.
- Notice – 1 week during probation, increasing to 1 month thereafter.
